Oakridge Wines is one of the Yarra Valley’s most-awarded wineries, set among vineyards with mountain views at Coldstream. Its cellar door pours a celebrated range built around chardonnay and pinot noir, including the premium single-vineyard 864 wines, named for the winery’s address on the Maroondah Highway. Tastings run seven days a week, and bookings are recommended.
Alongside the cellar door, an on-site restaurant serves lunch seven days, with seasonal, locally sourced menus enjoyed against the same vineyard outlook. Online booking isn’t offered, so it’s best to phone ahead and reserve a table — especially for weekend lunches. The winery also hosts functions, events, and masterclasses by appointment, and runs a wine club for regular visitors.
Oakridge has a long history in the region. It was founded in 1978 as a small family winery by Horst ‘Jim’ Zitzlaff, whose original plantings at Wandin East (today’s Five Oaks vineyard) helped lead the area’s revival as a wine region in the early 1980s. Production and the cellar door moved to the current Coldstream site in 1998. Over the decades the winery has gathered more than 500 domestic and international awards, with its 864 Chardonnay among the most highly rated in the country.
You’ll find Oakridge at 864 Maroondah Highway, Coldstream. The cellar door is open daily from 10am to 5pm, closed Good Friday and Christmas Day. Whether you come for a relaxed tasting or a long vineyard lunch, it’s a rewarding stop on any Yarra Valley itinerary.
