De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate is a family-run winery, cellar door and restaurant tucked into the hills at Dixons Creek. It is the Yarra Valley home of De Bortoli Wines, one of Australia’s largest family-owned wine companies, and the estate brings together everything you need for an unhurried day in the valley: wine tasting, a relaxed lunch, a shop and picnic grounds with views across the vines.
The cellar door is open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm, with tasting experiences ranging from seated tastings through to longer wine adventures and blending sessions. The on-site Locale restaurant serves Italian-inspired food, with lunch Thursday to Monday, dinner on Saturday evenings, and breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The venue is wheelchair accessible and welcomes group bookings, and it also hosts events such as weddings.
The De Bortoli story began in 1928 when Vittorio De Bortoli, an Italian immigrant from the Veneto region of northern Italy, founded the family wine company in the New South Wales Riverina. The Yarra Valley estate was established in the late 1980s by third-generation Leanne De Bortoli and her winemaker husband Steve Webber, and in 2020 fourth-generation Kate Webber joined the winemaking team after vintages in Burgundy and Napa Valley. Nearly a century on, the family is still at the heart of the business.
